Experienced Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. James Fernau joins Marshall Health Network

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Health Network announces the addition of double board-certified plastic surgeon James Fernau, M.D., FACS, a nationally-recognized leader in cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Fernau brings more than 30 years of expertise to Marshall Health Network, with a focus on elevated patient care and advanced surgical options.
Named one of America’s “Top Doctors” by the American Consumer Research Council for seven consecutive years, Fernau specializes in a wide range of cosmetic procedures, including breast augmentation, body contouring, facial implants, Brazilian butt lifts, and non-surgical treatments such as BOTOX® and dermal fillers. In addition to cosmetic services, he is also skilled in breast reconstruction, facial trauma, rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction.
Fernau is a second-generation physician inspired by his father’s commitment to community health care in Wyoming. His dedication to patient care is further reflected in former leadership roles as chair of the Patient Safety Committee for both the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and Assistant to the National Secretary for ISAPS.
Fernau earned his medical degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. His surgical training includes residencies in otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh and plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Utah, as well as aesthetic surgery fellowships under renowned surgeons in the U.S. and Brazil. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgeons.
He has published extensively on surgical advancements, patient safety protocols and innovative techniques in aesthetic surgery. As an assistant professor of surgery at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Dr. Fernau will share his expertise by mentoring future surgeons, contributing to scientific research and driving advancements in plastic surgery.
