10th Annual Marshall Orthopaedics Joints Jog set for May 31

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – Marshall Orthopaedics will host its annual Joints Jog, a 5k run and one-mile walk, 8 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Barboursville Park.

Participants will experience a scenic course through the park’s rolling hills with the race starting and finishing at Lake William. Awards will be given to runners and walkers in each of the following categories: top overall, 17 and under, 18-40, 41-64 and 65 and older.

Registration is $30 for runners and $25 for walkers. Register by April 15 for a $5 discount. Registration includes a t-shirt and refreshments. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.; the race will begin at 8 a.m.

“The Joints Jog offers a fantastic opportunity in bringing the community together to support a cause so close to our hearts while promoting wellness and enjoying the beautiful nature of our city,” said Andrew Murphy, M.D., a second-year orthopaedic surgery resident at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and this year’s race co-coordinator. “We’re excited to continue this tradition and look forward to another wonderful turnout.”

Each year, Marshall Orthopaedics selects a non-profit organization to support through the resident physician-led race. This year, all proceeds will go to benefit Harmony House, a Huntington-based non-profit organization that provides a range of services and support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Now in its 10th year, the Joints Jog has raised thousands of dollars for local non-profit organizations.

Race sponsors to date include Burke & Herbert Bank, DePuy Synthes, Stryker and Taylor Medical Sales. Additional sponsorships are available. For more information, contact Andrew Murphy at murphyan@marshall.edu. To register, visit https://flextiming.pro/race/12938
