PROACT’s inaugural pickleball tournament set for Oct. 25

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — Marshall Health Network Foundations will host the inaugural PROACT Monster Smash Pickleball Bash on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Barboursville Park, starting at 10 a.m.

The men’s, women’s and mixed-doubles tournament will open with a round-robin format leading into a single-elimination bracket, with beginner, intermediate and advanced divisions available. Check-in and tailgate setup begin at 9 a.m., courts open for warm-ups at 9:30 a.m., and play begins at 10 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit PROACT (Provider Response Organization for Addiction Care and Treatment), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) affiliated with Marshall Health Network. PROACT provides a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment by integrating behavioral, social and medical services for individuals with substance use disorder. In recent years, PROACT has expanded its services to include primary care alongside addiction treatment, ensuring continuity of care and improved outcomes for patients.

“Monster Smash is a fun, community-driven way to support recovery,” said PROACT Director Michael Haney, LICSW. “Every registration helps PROACT provide coordinated, person-centered services that move individuals and families toward long-term recovery.”

Costumes are encouraged, and a prize will be awarded for the best dressed team. Concessions will be available for purchase; however, grills, open flames and alcohol are not permitted.

Players of all levels are invited to register. To sponsor, register or volunteer, visit mhnfoundations.org/initiatives/monster-smash-pickleball-tournament/.
