Marshall Health Network welcomes new internal medicine physicians

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Health Network is pleased to announce the addition of five new physicians to its team of internal medicine specialists.  

Robin Arora, M.D., M.B.A., is a board-certified nephrologist specializing in nephrology and hypertension. He earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the James J. Peters Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, New York, New York, followed by a nephrology fellowship at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. Arora brings more than 14 years of experience to his role and has been practicing in the tri-state during that time. 

Lauren E. Christie, M.D., is a primary care physician with special interest in the care of geriatric and diabetic patients. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington and completed her internal medicine residency at MetroHealth/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  

Pruthvi Goparaju, M.D., is an endocrinologist who specializes in general endocrinology, diabetes technology, osteoporosis, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders. He earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India, followed by an internal medicine residency at Central Michigan University in Saginaw, Michigan, and endocrinology fellowship at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a member the Endocrine Society and American Association of Clinical Endocrinology and certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.  

Gabriella P. Roa-Gomez, M.D., is a fellowship-trained pulmonary-critical care physician. Roa-Gomez completed medical school at Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic, followed by an internal medicine residency and pulmonary fellowship at BronxCare Health System /Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Bronx, New York. She also completed a critical care medicine fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.  

James J. Vaillant, M.D., M.Sc., is a double board-certified infectious disease specialist, providing evaluation, treatment and follow-up care for patients with a variety of infectious diseases. Vaillant completed his medical degree at Saba University in Netherlands Antilles. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, followed by infectious disease and clinical microbiology fellowships at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His research interests include rapid diagnostics and quality improvement with a focus on antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship. Vaillant is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Disease and the American Board of Pathology in Medical Microbiology.  

These physicians also serve as assistant professors of medicine, providing education and mentorship to medical students and residents through lectures, clinical instruction, and hands-on training in patient care.
