Marshall Health Network expands surgical expertise with three new specialists
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall Health Network and the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine are pleased to announce the addition of three new faculty surgeons, expanding surgical expertise and broadening patient access to advanced care across the region.
Mustafa G. Bulbul, M.D., is an otolaryngologist with expertise treating both children and adults with ear, nose and throat conditions. He has specialized expertise in ear surgery and endoscopic sinus surgery, as well as nasal procedures such as functional septorhinoplasty and septal perforation repair. Bulbul also performs thyroid surgery and offers advanced surgical treatments for obstructive sleep apnea, including hypoglossal nerve stimulation. He earned his medical degree from Alfaisal University College of Medicine in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and completed his otolaryngology – head and neck surgery residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia.
As an assistant professor, Bulbul has a special interest in ear disease and hearing research. He is accepting new patients and referrals at Marshall Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists in Barboursville at 304.691.8690.
Regina S. Cho, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in restoring form and function for patients following illness, trauma or congenital differences. She specializes in reconstruction for facial trauma, rhinoplasty (nose reconstruction), skin cancer and breast cancer. She also performs cosmetic surgeries for breast, body and facial rejuvenation. She completed her undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), her medical degree from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and her plastic surgery residency at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Texas.
As an assistant professor in the division of plastic & reconstructive surgery, she is interested in facial trauma and breast reconstruction outcomes in Appalachia. She is accepting new patients and referrals at Marshall Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Huntington at 304.691.8910.
Alexander Herrera, D.O., brings specialized training in hepato-pancreato‐biliary (HPB) surgery and minimally invasive general surgery to the region. Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he has a strong clinical focus in liver, pancreas and biliary tract procedures, caring for patients with liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary conditions/cancers; as well as a broad range of general surgical conditions including hernias, colon/gastric/adrenal conditions and cancer. Herrera earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. He completed his general surgery residency at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, Olympia Fields, Illinois, followed by a hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery fellowship at Henry Ford Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.
As an assistant professor of surgery at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Herrera’s research and academic interests are centered around studying pancreatic cancer differentiation and tumor fluorescence.
